Helfy® PCOS Precision: Metabolic & Androgen Profile
Decode the hormonal drivers of metabolic and reproductive health.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine condition that impacts insulin sensitivity, skin health, and long-term cardiovascular risk. This doctor-led diagnostic panel evaluates the specific androgenic markers and pituitary signals that define the PCOS profile. By identifying imbalances in your LH:FSH ratio and calculating your bioavailable testosterone, we provide the clinical clarity needed to manage symptoms and optimize your metabolic resilience.
🔬 What We Test — And Why It Matters
The Androgen Architecture & Pituitary Signaling
-
Total Testosterone & Free Androgen Index (FAI)
We measure total levels and calculate the FAI to determine the amount of "free" testosterone circulating in your system. Elevated free androgens are a primary clinical marker for PCOS. -
SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin)
A carrier protein that binds to testosterone. In PCOS, SHBG levels are often low—frequently driven by insulin resistance—leading to an increase in biologically active free testosterone. -
LH (Luteinising Hormone) & FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)
In a balanced cycle, these hormones work in harmony. A characteristic of PCOS is an elevated LH-to-FSH ratio, which can disrupt the maturation of follicles and prevent regular ovulation.
⚠️ Important Clinical Requirement
- This blood panel must be followed by a consultation with the Helfy® Clinic you are registered to.
- Without a booked clinical review, we are unable to process or release this blood test order.
- Results are not issued without appropriate medical oversight.
PCOS is a syndrome; diagnosis requires interpreting these results alongside your clinical history and physical symptoms (Rotterdam Criteria).

🧪 How to prepare for your helfy®Test
Pre-Test Instructions
-
Sample Type
This test is performed via a venous blood draw for clinical gold-standard accuracy. -
Cycle Timing
For the most accurate assessment of the LH:FSH ratio, test on Day 2, 3, or 4 of your cycle. If you do not have a cycle, you can test at any time. -
Timing
Take your sample before 10am. Androgen and pituitary hormone levels are most stable in the morning. -
Contraception
Hormonal contraceptives will suppress these markers. Ideally, you should be off hormonal contraception for 3 months for a true baseline; consult your clinician first. -
Supplements
Avoid Biotin (Vitamin B7) for 48 hours prior to the test, as it can significantly interfere with the accuracy of hormone assays.
